Knowledge Base Settings & Commands

Office Fluent UI HIDE

FlashTrack uses the Office Fluent UI, which is an interface design pattern inherited from Microsoft Office. The UI can be divided into five main portions: the Ribbon, Backstage, Toolbox, Workspace and Status Bar.

The Ribbon is the horizontal strip with icons that represent commands that can used to perform manipulations on items within the Workspace area. Related commands are organized into groups and tabs so that they are easier to find.

The Backstage view can be invoked by clicking the File tab. The Backstage view helps you discover and use the features that fall outside the authoring features on the Ribbon.

The Toolbox holds electrical icons that can be dragged and dropped onto the Workspace. It is the area pinned to either the left or right side of the screen.

The Workspace area holds electrical items that make up the one-line diagram. This is the area where most of the activity in FlashTrack takes place. FlashTrack uses the tab metaphor which allows you to create and navigate through multiple Workspaces within a single Workbook project file.

The Status Bar is the area at the very bottom of the screen that holds notifications about how many Points and Labels there are as well as which Edit Mode is currently being used. This area also holds auxiliary commands such as a zoom slider and tools for creating, renaming and removing Workspaces.

Ribbon Commands HIDE

Most FlashTrack commands can be accessed through the Ribbon. You can use these commands to manipulate and directly impact electrical items in the Workspace.

There is also a miniature toolbar above the Ribbon called the Quick Access Toolbar that allows you to pin your favorite commands so that they are always visible. Pressing the Ribbon’s File tab invokes the Backstage view.

Shorten tags with more than 16 characters
When enabled, displays a condensed version of an electrical item's tag so that it doesn't overlap neighboring electrical items within the workspace.

Invert mouse while panning
Reverses the mouse coordinates when the FlashTrack is in panning mode when enabled.

Workbook – Settings

Use metric units
Sets the Metric system as the default system of measurement when creating new projects instead of using US customary units.

Registry Settings HIDE

FlashTrack was designed to be configurable by not only the end user but also be managed by IT professionals. Most FlashTrack settings can be found within the Windows Registry under the “HKCU\Software\FacilityResults\FlashTrack\” registry key.

The list of Most Recently Used (MRU) Workbook files is located under the “HKCU\Software\FacilityResults\FlashTrack\MRU\” registry key. All MRU filenames use the file0, file1, file2, etc. convention. FlashTrack only allows for a maximum of 20 MRU entries.

The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) settings can be found within the “HKCU\Software\FacilityResults\FlashTrack\MRU\” registry key. All commands within the user’s QAT are located in the “Layout” string within this registry key.
